Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum This Victorian Palace and historic landmark is one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses ever built in the United States. You’re sure to enjoy the guided tour of this 62 roomed mansion.
A National Historic Landmark since 1971, it was built by renowned financier and railroad baron LeGrand Lockwood, during and shortly after the Civil War years, (1864 to 1868). The mansion, with its unparalleled Gilded Age interiors and furniture, illustrates magnificently the beauty and splendor of the Victorian Era. It boasts al fresco ceilings commissioned by the most popular artists of the time, and a staircase which cost then, $50,000.Interestingly, the mansion had hot and cold running water (complete with an indoor bathroom) which not even the White House had!

Westchester Trails Bike Rental Take a ride on Metro-North to Endless Trail Bikeworx in Dobbs Ferry and rent a bike for the day. Ride down the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, this car-free bike and walking path is perfect for jogging, hiking, dirt biking and walking with strollers, and has beautiful views of the Hudson River and historical points of interest.
